Mason of the Year!!

For the second year in a row a member of Marathon Lodge has been chosen as the MASON OF THE YEAR by the 6th Masonic District of Ohio!!

This year the honor goes to WB David Morgan. Dave has been assisting many lodges with music during their annual Inspections, as well as the Grand Masters Reception. WB Dave has made the inspections much more meaningful throughout this past year.

Congratulations to WB Morgan!!

Under 40? Want input?

We will have in our District our 1st ever U40 meeting designed for members 40 years of age or younger.  Our Goal is to have at least 1 representative from each of our 19 lodges. (The more, the Merrier)  This will be a Town Hall format for us to gather thoughts from our younger members on their thoughts and desires for the fraternity.  We asked that each of you think of your membership and please pass this along and invite them to participate.  The meeting will be Wednesday Sept 30 @ Hamer Lodge 7:00 PM for approx 1 1/2 hrs. Any questions please contact RWB Kirker who is heading up this event

Up coming events

The WM has set an MM for out next (October) stated meeting night. This is set to be a real candidate, not a Pro Temp.
The WM also attended the WIL meeting and chose February 13, 2016 as our Inspection. We are doing the4 EA degree this year.

Annual Dues

The annual dues notices are going out tomorrow, Please consider returning them sooner rather than later. Dues not paid by the Annual meeting in November will make you not in good standing and you will not be able to attend any Masonic event. December 31 that becomes a suspension. You would be surprised how many don't pay until the last second. I got a couple of dues on New Years Eve last year!!

A new Cornerstone!

For those of you who were not at the Grand Masters reception last night, the sixth district has an honor they can bestow on a Member but they do not do it every year. Only when they find a Brother deserving. It is called Cornerstones of the District. As you can see there are not many who receive this Honor. District Cornerstones - sixthmasonicdistrict
Last night a new Cornerstone was announces and presented. This year it was bestowed, very deservedly in my opinion, to WB George G. Quallen of our Lodge.here is the bio they read about George Last night:

WB George has been around the Masonic fraternity his entire life. That he is sure of, he is a fifth generation Master Mason. His father was a 50+ year member and Past Master of Marathon Lodge, his mothers father was a Mason, her Step Father was a 50+ year member of Marathon Lodge and the Secretary for about 35 years after that. George is following this example and is a twice Past Master Of Marathon and is currently the Senior Warden. George has been in nearly all of the offices in the Lodge including Secretary. George is the Worthy Patron of Linden Chapter 338 OES and has been several times. George is a natural ritualist and leader. He is well known for his Lectures and Charges, and is just as thorough behind the scenes as in front of the Brethren. George through his example and leadership turned Marathon around by encouraging the Brothers to reach out to the District and other Lodges and become more a part of them rather than an observer. In short WB George is, and has been a major supporter of Freemasonry both locally, and regionally.

Next time you see him, you might want to congratulate him as we did last night. George has been instrumental in the rebirth of this Lodge. The entire district is asking, What's going on at Marathon? They're on fire!

Congratulations George and all of the Brothers who are working hard, you all made this possible.
I suspect there will be an update on the district website in the next week or so.
